Longchamp SS'14 Preview + Limited Edition "Horse" Bag

A stormy Friday fraught with a near hour long traffic jam was not nearly enough to keep me from making my way to the preview of Longchamp’s Spring/Summer’14 collection, as well as the launch of the limited edition Horse bag specially made for the 2014 Year of the Horse. The space at the pristine ION Ochard Sky space had been transformed to a welcoming enclave of Longchamp creations and paper butterflies.

Here with the lovely Jenny from BeauteRunway.com

First ones that caught my eyes were the Quadri range, its color-blocking trend still a classic hit with ladies. If you are more into a monochome palette, the range also comes in primary colors such as greys and black. It comes in a myraid of styles like the top-handle ones, sling bag and tote style, so stock up with your favourites!

Spring/Summer is synonymous with colour, and there is no lack of pantones here at the Longchamp preview to choose from. It is the perfect arm candy to spice up to an otherwise tame outfit. The Le Pliage Cuir and Dolce Night pieces are my picks for the upcoming Lunar New Year; both youthful basics to pair with for home-visiting.

The Longchamp 3D and 3D Perfo (the perforated version) line is perhaps my favourite one of all. This line features streamlined shapes with straight-cut leather, 3D lines in relief, and geometric eyelets. I really liked the soft leather which incorporates meticulous workmanship details such as leather-edged interior pockets, contrasting lining and leather reinforcements.

You can't go wrong with classics, as shown by the Roseau Box collection. This boxy tote is timeless; it comes in various finishes like a gradient, frosted patent calf leather and is available in a sling bag or tote style. What is iconic about it is the gold bamboo clasp in the front, adding that slight touch of glamour to an understated bag.

Closer details
If adventurous and fun happens to be your middle name, then you're in luck. Longchamp has playful and artistic prints that will bring a smile on your face and mood as you tote if for that breezy weekend getaway or shopping day out.

The Tribu (below), features braided leather handles and hand-painted feathers of the lorikeet (a colored parrot that is Australia's emblem), on natural linen canvas. Of course, if you don't fancy the tote style, this is also available in the iconic Le Pliage shape.

The Fleurs de Ravello collection, when translated means flowers of Ravello (A place in Italy), and features a beautiful rustic floral motif that is the missing piece to that perfect summer beach holiday getaway. In 2 different sizes and shades with a bag organiser (that is too cute to be hidden), you can get the mileage you'll ever need!

If you think that the men are being left out here, think again. The brand offers a series of styles such as the Safari-Sur-Seine for the discerning man; from work cases, weekender bags and tote, each featuring quality canvas and raw finished leather. They all look so good, I won't be surprised if girlfriends try to nick them for their own.

Saving the best for last, is the Limited Edition "Horse" Bag ($556) that's specially created for 2014; which of course marks the Lunar year of the Horse! The classical Le Pilage is updated with an enlarged signature Horse logo in a platinum-toned cowhide, sewn across the available black and red canvas material.

Tres chic: Black for the classical woman, red for the daring!
Its sling has actually 2 colours, and depending on how you want to look, you can simply flip it!
And it houses inside a final small surprise:
In french: Longchamp celebrates the Year of the Horse
I guess what really surprised me (and I'm guessing most readers) is how Longchamp puts such meticulous detail and effort into catering for its very diverse clientèle. To be honest, the brand does so well in marketing its evergreen Le Pliage classic that I didn't realise they had such a wide variety to suit each customer's individual style. PLUS; did you know they also have a collection of apparel and footwear to match with their bags! So wearable and perfect for our local climate!

I'd also like to thank Maddy and the kind people at Longchamp for the gorgeous gift of the buttery soft leather clutch and bracelet, they are the perfect classics to accent my outfits. Can't wait to wear it for my future events!

Be sure to check out your nearest Longchamp boutique for more of the goodies! The exclusive Longchamp Horse bag is currently retailing at all outlets, whereas the rest of the SS'14 bags will be in our sunny shores from February 2014 onwards.

  1. The bag is soft, spacious and looks elegant. I have received several compliments and even my brother noticed it and wants to get one for his wife.
