Longchamp A/W 2014 Preview: Rive Droite, Rive Gauche

As summer comes to an end, Longchamp beckons forward the season of fading sunsets and falling leaves. This season, Longchamp tells a tale of 2 rivers...namely the Rive Droite and Rive Gauche, which are the left bank and the right bank of the famous River Seine in Paris. Rive Gauche collection features a brighter palette with relaxed structures, whereas the Rive Driote line is more sophisticated, with sleeker lines and a more polished aesthetic.

Let me start right off the bat with my top pick for the season: the Longchamp Heritage Luxe. Depending how you look at it, its can be either a camo, leopard or abstract leaf print. But one thing for sure, its gorgeous. Available in classic solid colors as well, its structured lines keeps it formal-looking but the whimsical patterns keep it quirky!

How can we ever forget the iconic Longchamp Le Pliage Cuir? This season, you can expect new tones such as Bilberry, Mocha, Poppy and Amethyst added to the color palette. Out with the ostentatious loud hues, this muted colors are anything but.

What is a Longchamp launch without the Longchamp Roseau Box series. It is unmistakably identified by the iconic bamboo closure, and this season sees the collection acquire a beautiful, glossy finish. The boxy shape coupled with straight-cut finishes is ideal for the woman looking for a stylish but understated bag.

One of the collections that stood out to me off the bat, was the Longchamp Jardin Royal set. A tote-style design with plenty of space that would be perfect for the busy woman on the go. But what really drew more was its rich hues coupled with textures of the decorated jacquard material. It might interest you that this line plays on symmetry and perspective, as the pattern stem from an aerial view of a garden maze. It also pays subtle homage to the Palais Royal located on the right bank.

Totally random, but I'm really loving this camel-brown leather satchel. Its simple, its unstated and just a fool-proof choice for work and play.

For ladies who are fans of the ridged texture of exotic crocodile leather, I reckon the Longchamp Legende Croco and the Longchamp Quadri Croco would be the choice. It packs some rocker-esque charm with the material texture, metal rivets and silver exposed zippers. Extremely utilitarian with its multiple compartments and versatile in classic black and dark brown shades, I don't think anyone can do any wrong with either.

Another one of my personal favourites was the Longchamp Perle de Caviar line, which I feel is a piece that can take you from day to evening. Incredibly elegant, it features a partial chain strap and gold finish to give this collection's a touch of effortless glamour. Instead of a structure look, the bags are a slouchy hobo shape which adds a contemporary touch, and keeps it from looking to prim.

The selection for men are abit safe this season, but with it brings a sense of adrogny. These Longchamp 2.0 pieces sticks to the basics, offering the subtle variations in different colored handles and zipper tabs. Smooth semi-glossy leather tote with ample of space to store paperwork and even a laptop.

The Longchamp Etrier I envision, is for the ultimate man on the go. This baby is boasts a stylish interior with multiple compartments. Its name translates as "stirrup" and it does just that,  plays with materials and shades to create a rustic look that is perfect for the discerning, style saavy male. I think if my boyfriend got this, there is about 99% chance that I'll nick it when he's not looking...

Coming to a Longchamp preview is always like stepping into another world; and each new season is just something familiar yet different. This season is just a beautiful amalgation where classics are reinvented with the richer, dark hues and textures to reflect the Autumn sophistication.

Thank you Longchamp and Maddy as always for the invite!
