Get out of the sweltering summer heat and celebrate it with Orchard Central’s
Summer in the Park bazaar! Featuring 27 vendors and their diverse offering of
fashion, beauty and lifestyle vendors, the event had scored a spot in the Singapore’s Book of Records for the largest vintage
cars bazaar. Be part of these monumental moment and come take some great photos
with these rare rides before they’re gone!
How cute is the idea of using
vintage Beetles and Kombis to showcase fashion and beauty products? I really
think it adds that rustic feel of treasure hunting when you go through
different stalls looking at the merchandise.
I made my first stop at Tokyu Hands, a multi-brand store that stocks the best
of Japanese lifestyle goodness such as honey-infused makeup line Vecua Honey,
innovative food tools and travel luggage. Currently you can score some exciting
offers at discounted prices, and their diverse offering means there is
something for the kitchen-saavy mom or the jet-setting sister.
I am such a soap and body care person so I’m definitely stocking up on their fragrant
lavender and green tea organic body soaps and shampoos which are priced from $3
to $10, so there is no better time to stock up!
Words hold power like no other; a kind encouragement rejuvenates the mind and
soul and a mean remark can break the spirit. So what better way to give
yourself some daily encouragement with Paper Therapy’s colourful framed quotes
from famous people.
Really loving the pop-culture feel of the potraits, and I thought I’d show you
some of my favourites that truly resonated with me:
They are also available in larger
sizes if you have a more surface area to play with. Literally make a statement and add some character to your home
décor with witty quotes and sayings.
And why settle for the usual run-of-mill printed greeting cards? Wow friends
and loved ones with their wide selection of intricate hand-cut, pop up cards
for every occasion. They have everything from famous landmarks to Chinese
wedding characters!
Just further down the road is Pleatation, a local designer brand that I came to
know about earlier this year when I attended the Samsung Fashion Steps Out.
Forget the conventional styles of accordion pleats on office skirts; Pleatation
is all about the contemporary use of pleats with stunning fabrics weaved
together to create interesting textures bags, clutches, dresses….and even
notebooks!
Especially going gaga for their
maxi dresses, which are lightweight for the Singaporean weather and looks quite
regal when worn. Each Pleatation piece undergoes a rigorous treatment so that
the pleats stay perfect even after long wears or harsh treatment.
Quench your thirst from all that walking with a glorious refreshing sip of
cold-pressed juice from HIC Juice. HIC Juice is a hot buzzword for those
seeking a healthy juice detox cleanse, and their drinks are exceptionally fresh
thanks to the 2-step triturating hydraulic cold press that extracts
up to 5 times of the nutrients, vitamins, minerals, enzymes gleamed from their
organic produce.
They have a number of delicious tasting flavours but I personally
recommend Kale Tales, a blend of apple, cucumber and Coconut water. They also
stock some great-tasting nutty snack bars that goes well with the juices,
without busting the health quotient.
The HIC Juice booth is also the only one that stocks
plushies of my favourite animal in the world: Seals! I Just about bought half
the stock when I saw their plushies keychains and dolls of seals in funny
costumes. But limited pieces so do hurry if you are a fan like me! The little
Sir here gives his ‘seal’ of approval!
HOW CUTE are these arigurumi (crochet woven) toys? A cute
alternative to the usual furry type soft toys, it is also a better alternative
for those suffering from allergies as it is less likely to catch dust. At the TotallyHotStuff™
you can also find some quirky novelty gift ideas like that sleeping bear bean
cushion…
Vintage looking clocks and cute animal mugs!
As well as lovely kitten throw cushions and and dainty tea pot sets at The
Handmade Shop…
Tea aficionados must not miss Wands, the Original Tea Company. Created by local
company Tea Ideas, their high ISO certified filtration process means that teas
produced are top-notch and pure tasting. Choose from their range of high grade
Gyokuro green tea to white or fruity teas; or just get a wand or 2 to try first
before you buy a box at just $2 each. Their unique tea wand design is fuss-free
and easy to use without having to buy a diffuser!
Love those yummy Japanese snacks like Tokyo Banana and
Shiroito Koibito but don’t have the chance to travel over? Get your sweet fixes
at ShiokJapan!, where Tokyo Banana is now going at $30 a box or 2 for $50 now!
