3 beauty game-changers you need to try today

Sponsored Review

We all have our favorites in makeup and skincare, but every now and then its time to shake things up and explore some exciting new options. Here are 3 of my latest discoveries that I feel will be set to rock your beauty repertoire soon, and for good reason....

1) TheFaceShop Ink Lipquid

It's a lip gloss...no its a lip tint, wait its a 'Ink Lipquid"?! If you were confounded, I wouldn't blame you. Combining the rich colours of a lipstick, the long-lasting effects of a lip tint and the moisturization from a lip gloss, the new Ink Lipquid combines the wonders of all lip products! These new babies come infused with a Moisture Holding System which helps to lock moisture, and is coupled with Ink Staying Polymer technology which creates this sheer, transparent film layer to hold in moisture and color.

I found it great to use, it had a more creamier texture than your regular lip glosses, and it glides on easily with a relative rich payoff with a single layer. You will be interested to know that the colors are actually derived from natural plant extracts for a naturally looking hue. Although the shades look abit daunting at first, it actually transitions into a natural tint like finish on lips.

Here's how it looks when swatched on hand:

And here is how it looks on lips below; I am quite surprised that while it looks abit loud and dauting on the hand its actually quite toned down and natural looking on lips. Its also pretty versatile to be mixed for a totally different shade, or can be dabbed on the middle of your lips for the ombre effect!
Bonus tip: tap 1-2 dots on the apples of your cheeks as a liquid blusher for a quick beauty pick-me-up!

TheFaceShop Ink Lipquid retails at $17.90 and is currently available at all TheFaceShop outlets.

2) L'Oreal Paris Extaordinary Oil Hair Care System

So I've been a user of the Loreal Paris Extra-ordinary Oil Hair; I mean what's there not to love? Its lightweight, watery texture has been my answer to frizzy hair gone amok. But here is even more exciting news: this after-treatment is now infused in an entire hair system! The newly formulated shampoo not only helps to really give my oily scalp a thorough cleanse while treating my hair, but coupled with the hair conditioner and mask

How to use: Simply squirt about a 20c amount (or more if you have longer hair) and rub your palms together. Essentially, the warmth activates the ingredients and helps in product penetration. Run it along your strands but avoid the roots.

The best thing I love about this is that its great for ladies on the go like me! You can even apply the oil onto your hair as a pretreatment before heading to the pool of shower. This softens the strands and give extra nourishment; and I say this with confidence. Using this for almost a week left my hands so much tamer, with lesser flyaways and adding a light shine to my otherwise frizzy hair!

3) Remescar Spider Veins Cream & Scar Silicone Stick

I used to think that once you have spider veins and scars, that it's goodbye to flawless skin. So behold my surprise when I received Remescar, which promises to tackle the underlying causes of skin blemishes thanks to its revolutionary healing formulations by scientists from Belgium.

I like the nifty silicone stick design, and its easy to use scroll to use design. When smeared lightly on my skin, the Remescar creates a translusent silicone base membrane which is supposed to be an ideal healing protective barrier. This helps to maintain the skin’s moisture balance, while aiding the healing of scar tissues resulting from surgeryburns, injuriesacne and stretch marks.

Just a quick background on Spider veins: they are small purple/blue/red dilated blood vessels that appear near the surface of the skin and looks relative similar to varicose veins. Remescar Spider Veins dispensed, is looks similar to your regular cream with a slight green tinge but when applied on skin it mattifies into a long-lasting protective shield around the area to help booster the healing process.

Thoughts: I find myself a new fan of the Silicon Scar Stick; its handy hygienic design makes it easy to carry around for daily application. I tried it out on an old burnt scar on my arm; and it took a gradual lightening of about 3 weeks to see a significant diminish in the area. The results were less obvious for the Spider Veins cream, it seems to make the skin area applied more supple and brighten; which I believes contributes to reducing the spider veins' appearance.

Remescar Silicon Scar Stick ($30) and Remescar Spider Veins ($40) are currently retailing at Guardian, Watsons, Unity and major pharmacies.
