The Root to Beauty with Himalaya Herbals

Sponsored Review

Turmeric has long been a prized ingredient of skincare and so its not surprise that its the star of the new Himalaya Since 1930 campaign. Used for nearly 4,000 years, Himalaya Herbals has team it up with another powerhouse ingredient: the well-respected Neem plant, to help combat blemish prone skin and giving a purifying cleanse from environmental impurities, all whilst remaining gentle on skin.

Taking a “head to toe” approach, I was delighted to review the a selection of their products: consisting of Purifying Neem Face washPurifying Neem Foaming Face washPurifying Neem Scrub, Neem Face Pack and Protecting Neem & Turmeric Soap.
Purifying Neem Face Wash

I actually really like the facial cleanser; its a refreshing gel wash that lathers easily but not overly foamy. It features a fresh citrusy-floral scent that I found pleasant and not too strong. Unlike some drugstore brands that heavily contain sulphates and SLS, this one does not make my skin feel dry and taut after rinsing off. The formulation contains melia azadirachta leaf extract, otherwise known as the Neem ingredient, high on the ingredients list in 3rd place; so you really are getting value for your money.

Purifying Neem Scrub

Scrubs tend to turn me off  because they tend to be harsh and rough but this Neem Scrub proved otherwise. Extra brownie points that the brand has opt for ground natural Apricot seeds as choice of exfoliant instead of microbeads, which is more eco-friendly as it does not pollute the environment when it gets washed down into our waterways. Being a gelish texture, it also doesnt foam alot but provides a nice comfortable scrub and clean sensation when rinsed off. However, it does contain 2 parabens low in the list but I guess it might be to keep the natural ingredients stable.

Neem Face Pack

Like every other girl, I love me a good masking session every week. The Neem Face Pack contains of my fave ingredients such as Fuller's Earth (one of my fave natural clays for oil-control and blemish treatment, I also use it in my DIY skincare too), Neem and Tumeric.
However...the Neem ingredient can come off abit strong, but it does not bother me alot. Its gelish consistency makes it less cakey to apply than regular clay masks, and dries up fairly quickly within 5 mins and washes off to leave my complexion noticeably fairer. The sunction power is comparable with other higher-end brands, effectively removing most of the gunk and blackheads especially on my T-zone.

Protecting Tumeric & Neem Soap

Your girl here is a soap addict so imagine my excitement when I saw the soap bar in the kit. At 75g, it provides pretty good value for money as it lathers richly with just a bit of water. However, this soap was sadly too drying for me in the week long that I've tried; I have a eczema and atopic dermatitis so my skin reacts very easily. The husband though, loves it for its thorough cleansing power after a long day tinkering with his car, while I just like the fresh fragrance it leaves.
