Launch + Review : Philosophy Hope in a Jar Night

Held in the quaint Wanderlust hotel, I was glad to be invited to the Philosophy launch of its latest addition to its best-selling moisturizer series: Hope in a Jar Night. As I'm a total fan of it and own one personally, I was keen to know what the new version has in store. Stepping out of the lift, this sight greeted me.

Slightly bewildered, I was quickly given a silky robe and some bedroom slippers before being ushered to the event room; which was made cozy with Philosophy quote cushions and couches. Delectable macarons, desserts and piping hot chocolate was served as we watched an introductory video about Hope in a Jar Night. It felt very much like a cozy sleepover party with girlfriends!

After the video was over, we were treated to a little fun activity time; which was to customize our very own dreamcatcher bookmarks. After all, it is important to maintain good dreams to achieve good beauty sleep and optimal recovery period, no?

Now, don't laugh but this is my feeble attempt at customizing my very own Philosophy dreamcatcher. What do you guys think? I used green and blues which were the signature (and my fave) colours of It has since taken up permanent residence of my bedpost :)

The second part was a personal trial and demonstration by their consultant. We had a side to side comparison of all 3 types of Hope in a Jar moisturizer. The night version has a slightly heavier creamy feel compared to the original and oil-free (I own this) ones, but fret not. It absorbed into my skin quickly, avoiding that clammy damp feeling that also often leaves residue on pillowcases during sleep.

This new and improved version claims to:

- Overnight, 92% felt softer, comfortably hydrated skin. **
– and in 2 weeks, 90% showed diminished fine lines. * *
based on a once daily use, clinical study
** consumer study of 48 participants

Truly have to salute the Philosophy team for the interactive and enriching launch, and their detail in making this exclusive sleeping set! From left, my DIY dreamcatcher, eye blinds, Hope in a Jar Cream, sleeping robe and bedroom slippers. Super adorable.

So, what is the new Hope in a Jar Night?

" To dream in hope is to wake to limitless possibility."
The newest addition to the Hope in a Jar family helps to optimize the body's renewal system as we sleep; this means nighttime is your skin’s best opportunity for treatment and repair. Basically, what really sets this night version apart is its patented qusome delivery system which allows for a 'timed' gentler and more efficient penetration of its active ingredients. Glycolic acid helps to retexturize skin while plumping out the appearance of fine lines and evens out skin tone. It also includes Beta glucan which helps strengthen skin’s natural cellular defense.

I've always wanted to have that dewy flawless skin that Korean girls have, and so I set off to do a 1 week test. I apply around a 20-cent size of dollop of Hope in a Jar Night and massage it outwards onto my face, activating blood circulation and better absorption. Do remember to spread some on your neck area as well!

Here is a closer look at the textures of the cream and the difference upon application. I forgot to mention that both creams are fragrance free.

Ingredients list:
Water, Isononyl Isononanoate, Propanediol, Glycolic Acid, Cetyl Alcohol, Glycerin, Neopentyl Glycol Diheptanoate, Ascorbyl Glucoside, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Arachidyl Alcohol, Peg-12 Glyceryl Dimyristate, Squalane, Behenyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Stearate, Peg-100 Stearate, Arginine, Beta-Glucan, Allantoin, Gluconolactone, Sodium Pca, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/Vp Copolymer, Sodium Benzoate, Sodium Hydroxide, Polysorbate 60, Magnesium Aluminum Silicate, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Arachidyl Glucoside, Sodium Sulfite, Bisabolol, Sodium Metabisulfite, Calcium Gluconate, Fragrance, Chlorphenesin, Disodium Edta, Xanthan Gum, Farnesol, Linalool, Phenoxyethanol.

As you can see circled in the red, the residue after 1 swipe. The top is the oil-free gel one, which appears watery and glides easily. The Hope in a Jar Night one, I used even lesser amount as its quite rich and you can see the slight white streaks left. Just a little bit goes a long way...

Hope in a Jar Night really doesn't exaggerate its claims, comparing my earlier pictures I found that the redness and uneven skin tone has diminished quite significantly, especially around the sides of my nose.  The boyfriend agrees as well, saying I look more rested and radiant. <3

Taken without makeup under moderately strong sunlight
