Digital Fashion Week 2013: The VIP Experience

So because I could not get enough from the gorgeous onslaught of fashion from Fide, I literally jumped on my computer (thankfully it was durable) when I saw that I-S magazine was giving away a tickets to the Mae Pang show. Fingers crossed and and a mouthful of prayers, I sent my entry in.

And I guess someone up there really was listening because...

I literally dropped everything, squealed and did a spastic victory dance after.

So on a usually bleak Monday, I trooped down to Peatix's office to collect my prize, not one but TWO bags of goodies. Here is the list of items comprising the VIP Experience package:

A Pair of Bellabox beauty boxes

I've ordered a couple of Vanity Trove sets earlier so this was really helpful and timely to compare. Although smaller than its competitor, it was a vision in red and I'm just a sucker for mystery gifts. Included in it are:

1) Philosophy's Hope in a Jar (Oil Free): I cannot get enough of Philosophy products, and its even better when it comes travel-sized! My review on this earlier: http://www.junedujour.com/2013/09/beauty-review-philosophy.html.

2) Adonis Dermatox and Herbal Peel Gel

Firstly, the Dermatox; I didn't like the acrid smell of the gel (Abit like burnt hair). You basically spray on this watery product of face and leave it on for 5-10 mins before washing off with a cleanser. Felt a slight tingling and tightening feeling upon application. The Herbal Peel smelled better, and the texture was a light gel that was easy to spread. A mild exfoliator to help rid dead skin and brighten complexion.

3) Lanvin Me eau de parfum vial
According to its website, it contains delicate floral notes, the fruitiness of blueberry mixed with liquorice in its heart notes before ending with intense tuberose complements at the base notes. Its a pretty scent, slightly similar to the Eclat D'arpege but with added heady sweeter scent.

4) HARNN Jasmine and Pomegranate hand cream

Love! The Jasmine smells more dominantly than the Pomegranate, and I like its SUPER lightweight texture (if you have been reading me, you know I'm all about lightness). Absorbs fast into skin sans the clammy feeling. I like that its double sealed!

5) Model Co Cheek & Lip Tint in Rosy Red

When i first tried it, one word came to mind: Jam-like. It smells, looks and feels kinda like really sweet jam. The color is highly pigmented, so dab a bit first before adding more to build up the color. Otherwise, if you don't blend fast enough, the effect becomes patchy.  The final effect blends into a rather rosy flush.Love the multi-tasking usage and staying power is good, even for oily skin.

"Marquise de Provence" wine from Eyguebelle

Despite being a well-known alcohol ULTRA-lightweight amongst friends and family, I've strangely been acquiring a palate for reds lately. This striking aromatic red cranberry wine was hence, a godsend. Chilled and served cold, the taste had a very full-bodied sweetness and is very easy to drink. I would recommend to have this alongside with your favourite pastry (for me,  a tasty Cinnamon roll).

Uber ride coupons up to $40 each

Having being invited by the Cheng Ballet for their Giselle performance (post coming soon!), I decided to give my mom a treat by booking UBER, a premium taxi service, for the trip back and forth.

Basically, you just need to download the UBER app and and key/scan in your personal and credit card details (they don't have any cash transactions) and enter your location by pinpointing on its map or entering the address. The car did arrive pretty quickly (5-10mins) and the ride was very comfortable and  plush, complete with reclinable chairs, in-car theatre and a sunroof.

However, my VIP trip was soon to be turned into a nightmare. The driver for the first trip had initially got us to NUS, where my destination was. But since we were unable to locate the exact place, he decided to go to 50 Kent Ridge ROAD based on his GPS, without informing me AND despite the address stated clearly on my order.

Overall, I'm quite mortified over the exorbitant fare charged over this mistake; and considering how taxi fares have been hiked lately, I am not sure that such a charging model would be readily accepted. Furthermore, the charging is rather confusing and as you can see I'm being charged twice for both the rates for travel AND time despite their website stating otherwise.

Anyways, I am thankful for my voucher and a $21 rebate after the helpdesk reviewed the fare. But even so, my overall bill was still a whopping $80 (initially $180). After this pricey lesson, I think I'll be sticking with my good ol' blue ones.

A Pair of CHIC STASH goody bags + Private Fitting

A new fashion destination has arrived in town: presenting CHIC STASH, a seamlessly infused online and home shopping at a comfortable fuss-free level, while incorporating a philanthropic element by working with organizations such as UN Women.  Banish the thought of having to shift through racks of dingy old clothes; each garment undergoes a thorough scrutiny to ensure clothes are laundered and that items are in good resell-able conditions.

In the goody bag, I found:

1) PREP vouchers: One of the latest hair salons that specialize ONLY in Blow and Styling. At the time of this post, I've already used one to 'prep' me for my Graduation Ceremony. Pics to come soon!
2) ALILA Living Lip Balm for Him & Her: FINALLY something Le Boyfriend can use. Very smooth balm that really kept my lips moisturized.
3) CHIC STASH 10% discount voucher and bag hook: perfect for getting me ready for the shopping to come...

For my fitting, I found myself gawking at a beautiful living room neatly laden with clothes/bags /shoes/jewellery from possibly every kind of high street/designer brand I could think of.  Located at swanky The Claymore Condominium, where Denise greeted me warmly upon arrival. I had died and gone to heaven.

I asked if there had been some difficulty extracting previous owners from their intended sales items, (since hell would have frozen over before I let anyone touch mine) and she burst out laughing. Citing everything from jaw-dropping excess stashes to the last minute change of hearts, Denise has seen it all. I guess it just goes to show that a woman's wardrobe is not only a curation of shopping deals...but one made out of sentimental memories as well.

Speaking to the founder herself, Denise. Am wearing the Honore Paris Square Trouseau dress <3

At CHIC STASH, its like a luxe fashion community. Users can:

After settling down, she inquired about my size, lifestyle and fashion sense before proceeding to pick out some pieces that surprising, were very close to my aesthetics...

Shiftdress with rose motif: Karen Millen
Shoes: Gucci
Chain sling leather hand bag with bamboo closure: Gucci
Leopard print dress with gold spikes: Sheri Bordell
Grey wedges: Marni

Grey knit dress: ZHAI
Strappy heels: Tory Burch

I ended up buying this last look, a versatile grey knit dress that belonged to none other than Denise herself! Basking in the delicious feeling of retail therapy and knowing that I've done charity at the same time, I left looking forward to the next showroom.
