Fide Fashion Week 2013: Bread & Butter

Barely a moment's break, did the lights and doors open to the struts of the Bread & Butter show.

F/W 13 saw a range of brands cleverly reinterpret to give new direction from past seasons, and gives a new tastes to the palate of new and old customers. Bread & Butter proves yet again why its the brand to go with its contemporary looks and diversity.

It seems like skinny jeans are still here to stay, albeit in more colorful incarnates in scaly prints, Not making it over girl-pretty, the looks are paired off with street-cred approved tops, in fringe, studded and deconstructed.

The biker jacket seems to be the buzzword for this season, with it showing in both this show and the earlier Balmain show, especially fashioned with exposed zippers and double lapels. The fashion gods are trying to send me a hint I think.

Brands like Evisu refreshingly introduced  prints across multiple styles: such as laundered techniques and pieced-and patched constructions to its pieces. Pick a shade of your choice: this show featured indigo-on-indigo takes, washed-out looks, stark whites as well as woodland palettes.

The men's look was grungy with a twist: what I'd envision if Kurt Cobain was living through the 70's hippie movement. Raglan shirts were paired off with overalls (+ workman sexy points), a seemingly plain coupling of grey sweater and jeans reveals a dynamic bursts of color. Shirts were given a new preppy leash of life, with darker treated washes and outlined threading.

For the people who are less familiar with the brand ;Bread & Butter is a multi-label boutique known for stocking a diverse plethora of American and European denim labels, both luxury and lifestyle. Currently, it has four stores located in Singapore, with its flagship store at Mandarin Gallery, as well as Scotts Square, Forum Mall and MBS.  It already garnered a cult of denim devotees as well as a fair share of Hollywood stars.

What I wore for Day One:
Earrings: Chomel / Dress: Swivelle / Shoes: Pretty Fit / Clutch: Forever 21
Stay tuned for my upcoming exciting coverage of the inaugural runway showcase by Love Bonito, (arguably Singapore's most loved online store) and their collaboration with french designer Julien Fournie!
