Review: Elizabeth Arden Untold Eau Légère VS Untold Absolu

What's your untold secret? Elizabeth Arden tells her story through the olfactory notes of the Untold fragrance series. Now I must apologise to the PR fairies for this super duper overdued post as I have been bogged down with a myraid of things as of late. But hey, what better way to compare it than with its predecessor?
The distinctively different personalities of
the Untold Eau Légère & Untold Absolu
In terms of packaging, the falcon bottles and boxes they arrive in are near identical, same but different. Both still have a bold weave pattern on the box and sports same faceted, curved bottle structure and caps. The Untold Absolu is the more pronounced of the two of course; with an overall deeper amber liquid content with a golden band circling the bottle (vs the silver one of the Eau Légère). But one would be wrong to assume that the scents are indentical as their aesthetics...

Next, and the most obvious way to compare is to take a look at the ingredients:

Untold Eau Légère: It starts off on a citrusy burst with Sparkling Green Apple, Grapefruit, Blackcurrant with Pink Pepper. At its heart, it is a glorious floral bouquet that is  made of  Freesia, Gardenia, Jasmine, Pink Peony, before anchoring it with a varied warm, smokey base of sandalwood, Amber, Patchouli Heart.

Untold Absolu: Similarly to the former, the top notes that greet you are fruity bursts of Black Raspberry, Italian Bergamot, Red Plum and hints of a peppery Ginger. At the heart of this enigmatic blend, one can detect an unexpected musk sweetness brought by Tahitian Vanilla Bourbon and woody Benzoin (a resin derived from a certain tree bark). Absolu ends with warm, robust notes of Cashmere Woods and Brazilian Tonka.

If you ask me, I'm more inclined towards the Untold Eau Légère better, but its really just my own personal preference for scents that are more fresh and sparkling. Untold Absolu is undoubtedly the more luxurious and richer fragrance of the two, but I personally prefer the lighter crispier notes of the former, which fades off to a very nice mellow hint of fruity. Untold Absolu I believe, is one that suits one that prefer a muskier, deeper scent. Thing is, due to the humid weather I break into perspirations alot and so any rich scents become coyingly sweet for my liking.

Hope this was a good comparison between the 2 fragrances for you! My opinions are entirely my own, so it's still better for head over to the EA counter near you to sniff out which is your choice of scent confidence!

Elizabeth Arden UNTOLD Eau Légère retails at $117 (for 100ml but also available in 30ml / 50ml) and whereas the Elizabeth Arden UNTOLD Absolu retails at $131 (for 100 ml but avail in 30ml / 50 ml as well). Both are currently available at all authorized Elizabeth Arden counters nationwide.

Earlier back at the launch with the every hospitable Elizabeth Arden team, fellow bloggers and a surprise visit from Mr Marco Ficarelli (VP of Arden Asia)! Such lovely memories and an honor to be right next to him!
