In my earlier post, I talked about the importance of having the right skincare. Having a clean canvas (aka your face) isn’t enough to achieve healthy skin; the right kind of after-care nourishment is just as important, due to the natural stressors such as harmful sun rays we have in the environment. Now here comes the Part 2 of my Cetaphil journey; where I have to introduce to you the 2 new permanent fixtures to my skincare: the Cetaphil DailyAdvance Lotion and the Daylong SPF 50+ Gel.
After washing my face with the daily cleanser, I love slathering on the
Cetaphil moisturizer. In my
3 week-long France holiday, my skin was parched
beyond comprehension due to the dry and frigid cold winter weather. I love that
it’s fragrance-free, containing only the best of moisturising and emollient ingredients
such as Macadamia Nut Oil, butyrospermum parkii butter (shea butter) and
hydrogenated polyisobutene to not just replenish skin’s much needed moisture
but also seal in the hydration effectively.
So you might be
wondering, what attributes to the lotion’s 24 hour hydrating power? It’s
successful formulation lies in the special medley of five key ingredients to
create the Epidermal Replenishing Complex5 (ERC5): Natural Shea, Sodium PCA, Cyclopentasiloxane, dimethiconol and
Panthenol; to truly penetrate the top layer of skin (Epidermis) all the way
down to the dermis (middle skin layer) and hypodermis (bottom skin layer) for
true hydration to nourish healthy skin from deep within.
This was my ultimate lifesaver as I slather generously on my face and
body once during the morning before leaving home, and once at night before
sleep. My skin immediately absorbs the silky sensation of the milky lotion,
which I feel leaves a thin layer of moisture to keep my skin soft, supple and
hydrated for 24 hours. Because its so gentle and non-comedogenic, I can even
use it for both face and body! The results speak for itself: parched dry spots
look visibly hydrated and less flaky than before, and my skin feels comfortably
moisturized even after a long day out!
The next (and often overlooked) step is sunscreen, and here I have is the
Daylong SPF 50+ sunscreen. A personal disclaimer: I sometimes skip this
(guiltily) because I hate the feeling of thick greasy sunscreen that I have to
layer before applying makeup.
Thankfully, I have no problem with this,
being meticulously formulated by leading dermatology company - Galderma’s
scientific expertise; this is perfect for normal, dry, oily, sensitive and
allergic skin. What sets this apart from other sunscreens is
Daylong’s combination of advanced photostable filters and ingredients for
long-lasting skin care; such as DIETHYLAMINO HYDROXYBENZOYL HEXYL BENZOATE and Bis-Ethylhexyloxyphenol
Methoxyphenyl Triazine to tackle UVA
,UVB and Infrared rays. I dispense about a small 20c sized amount of the
milky white sunscreen gel, which is usually sufficient for me to smooth over
evenly onto every part of my face.
When applied, I love its unscented gel-lotion texture that is fast-absorbed by
the skin without leaving my face feeling sticky nor tacky. In fact, Daylong has also been clinically
proven to protect the skin from premature aging caused by the sun.
Another thing that I love about Daylong is
that it does not leave the usual white cast (a whitish-pasty residual finish)
despite being a high SPF 50+/ PA++++ sunscreen, which gives the face an
unsightly pasty finish. Instead, it produces a slightly fairer and dewy finish
on my face which I feel is lovely as a prep before makeup.
And now that I have found the secret to
healthy skin that I can be comfortable in, I’m sharing my Cetaphil
